Forgive Us Our Debts

HOME

Original air date: 12/12/1986.

Original working title: The Gangs All Here

Most of the filming for this episode was conducted on September 25 thru October 3 of 1986.

Special thanks to Tom at Miamiviceonline.com who contributed information on this episode.

The episode starts out back in 1980 as Crockett delivers his partner, Frankel home after work. Location unknown.

If you recognize any of the unknown locations or have something else to add, please let me know at: cglide@floridamovielocations.org

The teaser ends with Crockett’s partner being shot at the front door. This was the shortest teaser of season 3.

Then we see the opening montage (version 8).

Then we see an establishing shot of a marina (present day, 1986).

This was filmed in Coconut Grove and is a shot of the Biscayne Bay Yacht Club.

Then we go inside the St. Vitus Dance where Crockett is starting his day. This has every indication of having been filmed on set at the studio and not aboard the real sailboat but I have not confirmed this yet.

Then we see Crockett and Tubbs in a Cuban diner where they are joined by Castillo. Location unknown.

Then we see Crockett and Castillo meet with a priest. This was filmed at the old Spanish monastery located at 16711 West Dixie Highway, North Miami Beach.

We see this same location used in the movie Ace Ventura, Pet Detective.

Then we se Crockett and Tubbs headed east over the MacArthur  Causeway Bridge toward Miami Beach. Then it cuts and they continue eastbound but they are now on the Julia Tuttle Causeway.

Then we see Waldman in his office where he is running for Attorney General. This was filmed at 2424 South Dixie Highway on the second floor (suite 200). I was lucky enough to meet the owner of the building when I was there in July of 2007 with a couple of my location detective friends. He was nice enough to not only allow me to take pictures inside his building but was happy to give us a guided tour. He was proud of the award winning building which he designed and was excited about telling us of his Miami Vice experience that he remembered fondly even after so many years. Miami Vice did allot for Miami and he was happy to share his knowledge. While the third floor remains identical to when Vice filmed there, the second floor which we see in this scene has been totally remodeled.

Then we go inside the OCB, a studio set.

Then we see Crockett driving. First we see him on the MacArthur Causeway driving off the bridge onto Watson Island and then along the causeway.

Then we see him on what maybe Krome Avenue.

Location unknown.

Then we see Crockett arrive at the southern gate to the South Florida Reception Center. 140000 NW 41st Street, Miami. At the time it was called Culver Prison. In reality we are seeing film from Walk Alone that they reuse here. I do not believe they did any filming for this episode at this location. They just used a couple exterior shots taken during the filming of Walk Alone. We also saw this in Payback and in the Burn Notice episode, Hard Time.

As seen in Walk Alone

He goes inside. This appears to have been filmed on location at the South Florida Evaluation Center, 2200 NW 7th Avenue in Miami. I have not confirmed this 100% but I am nearly 100% sure.

Then we return to the Spanish Monastery.

Which leads us back to the OCB (set).

Then we see them southbound on Collins Avenue through the 5300 block.

Then it cuts and they are eastbound on the Julia Tuttle Causeway back toward where we just saw them.

Then we see them arrive at Los Dos Hermanos. This was filmed on location, 766 West Flagler Street, Miami.

Then we return to Waldman’s office at 2424 South Dixie Highway. This time on the third floor. Suite 300.

Then we return to Los Dos Hermanos.

Then it is back to the OCB (set).

Back to Los Dos Hermanos again.

Then we return to the OCB (set).

Then we return to Waldman’s.

Then we go to Stuart to visit the ex-wife. In reality they never leave Miami. This was filmed at 2500 NW 10th Avenue, Miami right next to the prison.

Then we return to the OCB followed by the South Florida Reception Center then the South Florida Evaluation Center.

Then we see Crockett and Tubbs arrive at Barkley’s house by boat.  This was filmed at 1710 W 23rd Street on Sunset Island 3, Miami Beach.

Intercut, we return to the prison.

Then we go to a bayside lunch where the Governor is dinning. This was filmed on Biscayne Bay at NE 183rd Street at the mouth of the just dug new little harbor. The newly built William Lehman Causeway is seen in the background.

In this 1980 Satelite picture we can see neither the William Lehman causeway nor the harbor and park where the Governor was, existed in 1980.

Then we see Crockett pay a visit to Waldman at his S. Miami office.

Then we see Crockett and Tubbs outside the prison awaiting Hackman’s release. Only we are not at the South Florida Reception Center where it was earlier set up to be the place that he was being held. We are outside the South Florida Evaluation Center, 2200 NW 7th Ave. They are at the rear (west side)  of the facility on NW 8th Avenue.

The episode ends here.
